Laupahoehoe, Hawaii Real Estate

Laupahoehoe, meaning “leaf of lava,” is a small village on Big Island’s Hamakua Coast. Laupahoehoe is known for offering breathtaking views of ocean vista, breaking waves, craggy lava rocks and lush vegetation. Laupahoehoe, Hawaii was a sprawling sugar plantation town in the past, however after the last mill was shut down in 1996, the town has taken on eucalyptus trees as a new crop. In 1946 a  tsunami that hit Hawaii devastated this area, but it has since recovered and moved to higher grounds.
