Hilo is largest city on the Big Island of Hawaii. Located on the rainy westward side. Hilo is reported to be the wettest city in the U.S. with an average rainfall of 128 inches (325 cm) annually. The city is the most tropical in Hawaii and lush greenery is a normal part of the landscape. Hilo is home to the Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Corporation, one of the world’s leading producers of macadamia nuts. The town is served by Hilo International Airport.
